So for those of you who aren't a loser like me (I renew my AP subscription every year at Warped Tour >_<) and don't have subscriptions to AP, I figured I would post the little blurb from the January issue that has the "Most Anticipated Albums of 2007" in it. As we know, Bayside is one of them. There's also a fairly weird picture in the magazine of the boys... So, here we go:
It's been virtually impossible to talk about Bayside in the last year without bringing up the tragic van accident that claimed the life of the band's drummer, John "Beatz" Holohan, in October 2005. But that doesn't mean that lead songwriter Anthony Raneri has any plans of addressing the loss of Holohan on The Walking Wounded, his band's somewhat morosely titled third disc. "Everyone's saying that's what this record is going to be about," Raneri says. "And we are still writing. But as of right now, there isn't ." Instead, Raneri says what he and his fellow Long Island pop-punks have come up with is the most optimistic and biting album of Bayside's near seven-year career. "There's actually going to be one or two happy songs on the record," Raneri says proudly, "and then there's songs about hipsters and, like, the shitty bands that have been running things the last couple of years, which is stuff we've never touched on." Apparently, there will be an ode to Burning Angel actress Kylee Kross, whom the noticeably smitten Raneri is set to walk down the aisle with this January. "It's great," he says of his relationship with Kross. "We're always saying that we saved each other's lives."
